General Information about products and storage
What is the shelf life of your products?
We do not use any preservatives. When freezing products, wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and put in a food storage container before freezing due to moisture. Cool, dry and no odor are a must. When bringing items to room temperature, you must get them to room temperature before unwrapping. Here is some more specific information for what you purchased
MACARONS - should be refrigerated and consumed within 5-7 days of delivery, or they can be frozen upon arrival for up to 2 months. Our macarons are best served right out of the fridge in order to keep their chewiness and when they arrive place them in the fridge to set for 20-30 minutes before removing wrapper. If you will be storing them in a freezer, you will want to thaw in the fridge for a few hours before enjoying.
COOKIES - can be kept at room temperature or refrigerator up to 5 days, or they can be frozen up to 3 months. This is Flaky's choice unless he has a Linzer. Linzers are best stored in the fridge. If you want your cookies warm, heat oven to 400 F and place cookies on a lined baking sheet. If heating from frozen, heat about five minutes, if from room temperature, only about three (not for linzers).
COOKIE PIES - You can microwave a slice for 15-20 seconds. It may be stored on the counter or in the fridge for up to 5 days and can be frozen for up to 3 months. Personal note about Flaky, he likes to eat it straight from the freezer.
CROISSANTS - best stored on the counter, under a kitchen towel for up to 3 days. I know, crazy right? All of this precision and beauty and probably the least fussy of any pastry to store! Want to eat it warm? Simply put in a paper towel and microwave full power 10-15 seconds. Flaky won't be upset about this one - this is the absolute best way to heat those bad boys and keep their integrity. Oh, btw if you didn't figure it out on your own, do not microwave the cream stuffed croissants ;)
CHOCOLATES - "The best way to store chocolate is in your stomach!" - Jacques Torres. Ok ok, so you can't eat them all the second they get there. Chocolates are best stored in an airtight container and placed on the counter for up to 5 days. They should be stored under 70 F in a dry place. If you don't finish them in that time (shame on you) then you can freeze them, but you must wrap them as tight as Busta Rhymes so that the moisture doesn't ruin them.
CAKES - can we use the 'in your stomach' joke again because here at Flaky Not Flaky cake doesn't last very long. Our cakes can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days and then wrap it neatly and placed in the freezer for up to 5 months if you can keep it that long without a family member taking it for their midnight snack.
CHOUX PASTRY (aka Paris Brest and Choxnuts) - truly best eaten when you get them, but can sit out for up to 3 days and then into the fridge for up to 5 days. After that, shame on you.
SCONUTS - leave these little beauties on the counter under a towel and eat within 3 days. Want them warmed? Tough, don't do it - trust us.
Can my pastries be customized?
Absolutely! We love doing new and different things! We can create custom colors, flavors, and even do personalized designs on our pastries. Simply put in a request on our catering page even if it isn't a large event.
