A little history lesson to begin…Rufus Estes was born a slave and, dealing with unfavorable conditions, still seemed to test his recipes day after day and became the first black man to write a recipe book in 1911. This is when the Velvet Cake was born. You notice what is missing? RED! A dye company got a hold of it and turned it into a Red Velvet Cake in the 1920s, but we are going back to its natural roots in honor of Rufus and his amazing story…and cake!
Hinted with mocha, with a velvety texture, our Caramel Velvet Cake has layers of sea salt caramel, velvet cake and our fluffy, silky and not teeth shatteringly sweet cream cheese frosting.
